Confidentiality
E-motion takes your safety online seriously so please read this and let us know if you agree with it before going onto counselling. If you have any queries or disagree with anything here please let your counsellor know.
Will you tell anyone else what I say?
We will not pass what you have told us onto anyone else. However, there are a few special circumstances when we might have to speak to someone else to share our concerns and who can provide more immediate care and support to you.
- If you tell us something that leaves us feeling very concerned. For example; that you have been feeling suicidal or you have been self-harming.
- If you or someone else is at risk of serious harm through abuse or not being looked after properly.
The counsellor will try and talk about this with you first and explain what to expect. If you need any more information about this please feel free to ask frankie@e-motion.org.uk as we are happy to help you to understand things fully before you start your counselling.
What personal information do you collect and how is it stored?
We save copies of the email transcripts between you and your counsellor in line with the BACP Ethical Guidelines and Codes of Practice. It helps the counsellors if they work with you over a long period of time and need to check back over what has happened in earlier sessions.
We collect personal information from you on our forms and website to provide our service with statistics that are used to help us improve our services and help fund the project. All personal information is retained and destroyed according to data protection laws and regulations and BACP codes and ethics of online counselling.
How safe is my personal data and emails?
We do not pass your name or personal information onto anyone else. Counsellors take your issues to their supervisors who make sure that they are working properly with you but you are not identified. These supervision exchanges are also password protected and deleted after counselling has ended.
We keep notes password protected and safe with the latest firewalls and internet security measures.
We may use data from this project for statistics and publicity. This will always be completely anonymous so that no person can be identified.
Social Media - Facebook and Twitter
We will not share your personal information with anyone else. We also ask you not to share names and the content of any counselling emails on the internet or any form of social media (such as Facebook, blogs and Twitter).
